Have you ever spent time looking for that perfect Christian resource, only to find a lot of things that at really good but not quite what you’re looking for? That’s the problem I’ve run into as my family prepares to celebrate our version of Advent. I tried finding a reading plan that gave 25 different ways the Old Testament pointing to Christ, but never quite found the perfect one.
So I decided to come up with my own reading list, and I’d like to invite you to join my family as we go through it.
What I’m planning
Every day, from December 1st through the 25th, I’ll release a short article that gives an Old Testament picture of the Messiah, the New Testament fulfillment, and have a brief discussion on what it means or why it matters. It may be an obvious prophecy from Isaiah or a promise in the Psalms. Whatever we look at together, the goal is to see the awesomeness of our sovereign God as He regularly pointing Israel toward the promised Savior of the world.
I want to emphasize my desire to keep these brief, which I’m sure you know will be quite the feat for me. However, my goal isn’t to take my usual deep dive into the theology of a passage, but instead to keep our minds focused on why Jesus Christ is God’s fulfillment of everything He promised.
As always, my goal with this ministry is to serve God by creating a practical resource for your walk with Christ. I hope this can be useful for your personal time with God, or even as a tool as you gather your family around God’s word and set your hearts and minds on Jesus Christ. If you haven’t yet, you can follow me on Facebook or Twitter and get alerted every day when I upload an article or sign up for my mailing list where I’ll send that week’s list of articles.
As a final note, I still plan to keep my normal release schedule of a bigger article and podcast episode. I’m not sure what this week will look like since I’m working to get everything written and scheduled (and a shoulder injury really set my writing behind!), but there should at least be a podcast episode on Wednesday or Thursday.
I hope you’re as excited as I am for this new series!
