‘Tis the season
The Christmas decorations are being hung and Christmas music is already driving retail workers crazy. My family has started our Advent tradition of reading and discussing 1 chapter of Luke every day until Christmas, a tradition I’d encourage anyone to do as we spend the month not just remember the birth of a special child, but the eventual death of that baby to redeem us.
In the spirit of the holiday, I plan to have at least one Christmas-themed article each week. This week will be a bit Scrooge-ish, but I hope it will give parents something to think about.
Here’s what’s coming this week
- Why My Family Doesn’t Do Santa Claus
- Biblical Faith vs Modern Faith (Part 3)
- Let Christ Be Offensive, Not You
- Do Miracles Contradict Science? (Another entry in the series called “65 Theology Questions People Will Ask You“)

Reading the Bible Well – More than a Feeling
Two weeks ago we revisited my 3-step guide for reading the Bible well. In this article, I point out some serious issues with the way many of us want to read the Bible, interpreting it by how a verse makes us feel instead of what’s actually being said. Reading God’s word responsibly is something I always assumed I did, but when I was confronted with this dangerous method of Bible reading, I realized I actually had no idea how to truly understand what God is saying. I hope the truth of this article is as helpful to you as it was for me so many years ago!
